Spitsbergen with SV Noorderlicht
Experience Spitsbergen with a small sailing ship, share the enthusiasm for the arctic with a small group of like-minded … spend a lot of time out on the tundra … reach remote areas …
That is how a good Spitsbergen voyage should be, in my opinion. In 2009 and 2010, we used the two-mast sailing ship Noorderlicht. In 2011, we continue with Antigua, which is slightly larger and thus gives us the opportunity to have a second guide with us, making us more flexible on shore and giving us the opportunity to introduce special themes on certain voyages, for example »photography« in August 2011 and »Glaciers« in September 2012.
By the way, SV Noorderlicht celebrates her 100th birthday in 2010 – happy birthday! And we will also happily continue with Noorderlicht as soon as the opportunity arises.

Noorderlicht
The Noorderlicht was originally built in 1910, in Flensburg. For most of her life she served as a light vessel on the Baltic. Then, in 1991 the present owners purchased the ship and re-rigged and re-fitted her thoroughly, according to the rules of ‘Register Holland’. Noorderlicht is 46 metres long and 6.5 metres breadth, a well-balanced, two-masted schooner rig that is able to sail all seas. There is a nautical crew of 3, the chef and the guide/expedition leader.
