With SV Antigua to Spitsbergen’s northwest coast
26 september − 04 october 2015
This was the last of this summer’s sailing voyages in the high arctic for me, and it turned out to be a good trip to round the season off. A strong low pressure system was amongst the highlights that kept us busy and awake, but the wind directions were largely good, so we got both some nice bits of sailing and at least one landing every day. Add some beautiful sunsets, as you might wish for up here in September, and the luck of a good polar bear observation, and the result is a very pleasant week in late season Spitsbergen, even though we missed out on the northern lights.
