We crossed the 80th parallel as we sailed towards Hinlopen Strait and Nordaustland (we were to cross it yet quite a few times the next couple of days).
View towards the glacier at Idunneset in Wahlenbergfjord.
A lovely hike at Idunneset in Wahlenbergfjord brought, amongst others, stunning views of the surrounding glaciers and ice caps. At Zeipelodden in Palanderbukta, the wind became a bit unpleasant and we returned to the ship early enough to make sure it wouldn’t get potentially difficult. Next day, Hinlopen Strait was mostly hidden in dense fog, it was just about good enough for a while to visit some walruses on Wahlbergøya. Next day it was better further north again in Murchisonfjord.
Morning light in Murchisonfjord.
The final highlight of this chapter of our journey was a landing on Moffen. Not quite without fog, but this Moffen is just a very special and fascinating island!
