Hiking on Blom­strand­hal­vøya in Kongsfjord

The wea­ther could hard­ly have been bet­ter during tho­se first cou­ple of days. We star­ted with visi­ting wal­ru­ses in For­lands­und and con­tin­ued into Kongsfjord, stop­ping in Ny-Åle­sund. Kit­ti­wa­kes, Brünich’s guil­l­emots and rare flowers on Ossi­an Sars­fjel­let were next, and then it was time for some good hiking, which we did on Blom­strand with a hike up to Brat­lie­kol­len.

Dream mor­ning in Fjor­ten­de Juli­buk­ta.

In Fjor­ten­de Juli­buk­ta, we found more sea­birds, inclu­ding spe­ci­es rare in Spits­ber­gen such as the puf­fin and the razor­bill, and an ama­zing ran­ge of flowers. Lil­lie­höök­breen in inner Kross­fjord was the final scenic high­light of this leg of the jour­ney.
