If you have been fol­lo­wing this web­site and blog for a while, you may have got the impres­si­on that the­re is no way to tra­vel Spits­ber­gen in sum­mer other than by ship. Wrong. (as some say …)

In con­trast, it does have charme to sleep on solid ground, to wake up whe­re you fell asleep the evening (or a few hours …) befo­re. To spend more time in fewer places. To get to know the­se places well. To give the­se places time to make impres­si­ons on you. To dis­co­ver them. To find gre­at details and per­spec­ti­ves for pho­to­gra­phy. To do good hikes.

That is what we did in and near Lon­gye­ar­by­en and Pyra­mi­den. The fol­lo­wing pho­to gal­le­ries give some impres­si­ons (and so does the blog):
