Gallery - The southeast

A friendly wind brought us to Heleysund, one of Spitsbergen’s nicest tundra areas.

After an evening visit to a bird colony, we found Spitsbergen’s polar bear capital on a mountain slope on Barentsøya. Within maybe two kilometres, there were more than two dozens of them. They were literally all over the place. Unbelievable, exciting, beautiful, unreal but truly out there, on that unforgettable evening.

Storfjord calm as a lake, that is an opportunity to make a landing on Spitsbergen’s east coast, and ideal for whalewatching.
