Norway - Bear Island - Spitsbergen with SV Meander, 25.4.-8.5.2022
Part 1: From Alta to Hammerfest
With SV Meander from Alta to Hammerfest, 25.-30. April 2022.
The weather on the Barents Sea strongly suggested to spend a couple of days in sheltered waters of the Norwegian coastline, something we did with pleasure as it is an area of wonderful scenery and a lot of places that you just wouldn’t want to miss, from “unknown” ones such as Lille Kvalfjord on Stjernøya to “big cities” such as Hammerfest, which was traditionally the gateway to the Arctic before Tromsø took over in that position in more recent years. Hence it was a very appropriate thing to start the crossing to Spitsbergen in Hammerfest!
With SV Meander from Alta to Hammerfest: Årøya in Altafjord.
Further places that we visited included the little island of Årøya in Altafjord and Kåfjord with the old copper mine. A lot of landscape, a lot of snow, a lot of winter, a lot of fun!
