Gallery - From the north coast into Hinlopen Strait
The north coast brought the only moment of real moment of unhappiness to this trip: one wrong step, a fall, an injured knee, a helicopter – that is how quickly a trip can come to an early end here. You have to be careful with every step. Only when things go wrong, you realize how far away from zivilisation you really are.
After a visit to the great lakes in Wijdefjord, a small group started the first overnight hike from Mosselbukta with tents and heavy rucksacks. Crossing Mosselhalvøya was a challenge which rewarded us richly with stunning scenery that is rarely seen by human eyes.
In Hinlopen, we got thrilled by the wildlife, before we wanted to venture on another several day long hike. This, however, did not happen, the combination of polar bears where we did not want them, densely drifting pieces glacier ice and strong winds did not leave much room for doubt.
