Part 1: From Isfjord to Danskøya

Polar bear, Nordenskiöldbreen

An ama­zing start: a polar bear, seen and obser­ved wit­hout dan­ger and dis­tur­ban­ce
at Nor­dens­ki­öld­breen, on the first mor­ning 🙂

The first mor­ning was spent in Isfjord as the wea­ther was pre­dic­ted to be rough out­side. We did not reg­ret it, as that first day star­ted with a gre­at polar bear sight­ing and two very inte­res­t­ing landings, with a lot of geo­lo­gy and histo­ry in beau­tiful sur­roun­dings at Bruce­by­en and Svenske­hu­set at Kapp Thord­sen.

Then we went up north through For­lands­und, made a quite stop in Ny-Åle­sund and con­tin­ued to Vir­go­ham­na on Dan­s­køya.

Then we deci­ded to cover some distance with a night of sai­ling to get to Nord­aus­t­land, so we would have a lot of time in the­se beau­tiful, remo­te are­as of nor­the­ast Sval­hard.
