Tromsø-Senja-Vesterålen-Lofoten
with SV Antigua October 29–November 05, 2017
The last voyage of this arctic season took us from Tromsø along the Norwegian coast and various nearby islands to Bodø. A week full of orcas and northern lights. That is what everybody had been hoping for. Well, it may be a mistake to know in advance what a trip has to deliver, especially if it is up to mother nature in the end. You can not pre-order orcas and northern lights.
„We don’t take a journey, a journey takes us“, as people who know about travelling say. You have to have open eyes for whatever you encounter. And those who had open eyes (all of us, I would say) got a lot to see and to enjoy. We did many miles of great sailing, under the low northern sun and through snow showers, we saw sea eagles, many stunningly beautiful straits and sounds, some amazing islands, little villages, big (well, relatively) towns and interesting museums. We had the opportunity for the occasional nice walk or little hike. We had a nice and interesting bunch of people on the ship, both crew and passengers, and we the chance to meet some locals. There was a lot! Yes, there was also a northern light or even two. Nothing spectacular at all, but at least, there was something to see on the polar night sky, sometimes.
Have a look and enjoy the photos. I don’t want to miss these impressions!
